The Institute of Distance Education, University of Madras offers fee concession to physically challenged persons and prisoners subject to the following norms.

Candidates with 75% physical disability on production of disability certificate from The Director, Institute of Physical Disability and Rehabilitation, K.K. Nagar, Chennai will be exempted from tuition fees.

Prisoners in Tamil Nadu on submission of a 'No Objection Certificate' from the competent authorities are also exempted from tuition fees.
